Transition to Kindergarten (TK)

Transition to Kindergarten at Mountain View!

Mountain View is proud to be one of the host schools for the NTPS Transition to Kindergarten program (TK). This program teaches the skills students need for school in the year before they attend kindergarten. Classes begin in the fall and follow the same school hours and days as our K-5 students at Mountain View.

About Transition to Kindergarten

Is your child entering kindergarten and not currently in preschool?

NTPS Transition to Kindergarten is an early learning program for children scheduled to enter kindergarten the following fall. Classes will focus on social-emotional and early learning skills needed for school.

The program will be offered to families who live within the boundaries of:

  • Chambers Prairie Elementary
  • Lacey Elementary
  • Lydia Hawk Elementary
  • Mountain View Elementary
  • Seven Oaks Elementary

Students qualify to apply the year before they are eligible to attend kindergarten and live within the boundaries of a participating school.

If your child turns five by August 31, 2026, they are not eligible for this program and should attend regular kindergarten this upcoming fall. Use this age calculator for help determining age eligibility.

Applications for 2026–27 will open May 15, 2026.
